Blast to the Past: a glance at Oakfield’s vision

 In General, jlt

Actions speak louder than words. That’s why here at Oakfield, we don’t just promise to change the educational experience for children through nonconformity – we actually deliver.

We are known as the nursery in JLT that branches away from the typical textbook-studying concept, reaching into more contemporary practices of incorporating fun into learning. By promoting an enjoyable atmosphere, we successfully reign in even the most hesitant of toddlers into the enjoyment of studying. This proves that once children reach a comfortable state of mind, they inevitably respond faster and learn anything better.

Let’s take a look at some of the most renowned activities Oakfield Early Learning Center has accomplished in the past year.

Summer Camp 2017

This has been one of the most well-received events Oakfield has ever kept. In this, children were given an indoor camping experience, where they did things like building a tent, made fireflies, forest maps and drew forest animals as well. Along with this, children played games with one another, letting them enhance their social skills.

They were even given a chance to “get messy”; this was a day dedicated for them to grab the nearest brush, some paint, and just unleash their inner Picasso. They had no boundaries to colour within, and no rules to follow. We purposely let them have this liberty because that is what the freedom of expression truly means – to be able to express yourself without restraint, and without judgement.

Summer Camp 2017 had been a blast, to say the least.

Puppet Show

Oakfield had also organized a puppet show for our toddlers to enjoy. The set up had been small and humble, but the response we got from the children was overwhelming.

The cinematic experience, the bright colours of each puppet, cheery sounds of laughter and enthusiastic chatter – it seemed to have made the entire nursery come to life. Children both outspoken and quiet had participated and enjoyed a pleasurable performance to their fullest extent.

Without a doubt, every child that day had a story to tell their parents!

Teddy Bear Picnic

This was a unique get-together we had planned for toddlers, where they were allowed to bring their own stuffed toys to the nursery. The day was spent in our specialised open area; sat on top of mats, children ate snacks and played with their favourite toys.

We saw the young pupils visibly grow more comfortable, as they talked about their favourite stuffed toys; such a notion often establishes a sense of security, allowing them to feel more at home, and at peace.

It was a perfect break to their usual routine.

Posh Paws

In this activity, we invited over a range of domestic animals for our children to watch and interact with up close. We had geese, parrots, dogs – and even tortoises. Our practitioners made sure children maintained their distance if any animal grew erratic, and let every child get the chance to look at – or even hold – their favourite animal. It had been extremely fulfilling to see their eyes spark with interest when a parrot squawked, or a goose craned its neck. You could clearly see that they were exploring the new, alien-like world around them, and were actually enjoying the sensation of curiosity. Oakfield believes in harbouring that curiosity and letting it fuel a child’s development.

We weren’t kidding when we said that we do deliver on all our promises. It’s all thanks to our vision – that every child deserves a good quality education, with a hint of cheerfulness.

See the difference that fun incorporated learning makes for your child by enrolling them in the Oakfield Early Learning Center.

We guarantee that you can trust us with your child’s early development.
