A Commitment to Inclusive Learning

We at Oakfield are fully inclusive – but we are not a Special Needs School.

We are uniquely resourced, both in terms of staff (qualified Special Needs teachers and assistants), facilities (The Oakfield Achievement Centre) and specialised resources to accept a broad spectrum of Children of Determination.

Our Oakfield Achievement Centre supports and makes a positive difference (through inclusion) in the ongoing education of our children with additional needs.

  • Oakfield’s Achievement Centre has a limited intake of children with special needs, with qualified dedicated practitioners.
  • The Achievement Centre is a Specialist Room for One-On-One and Booster Sessions
  • Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) are prepared and updated regularly for the children, designed by our qualified practitioners.
  • We have worked with over 120 children with additional needs over the last 5 years.
  • We encourage our parents and practitioners to work together to enhance a child’s development at his/her own pace.

Helping SEN Children become ready for School

Early Learning can be accelerated to help preschool children in the Foundation Stage. We at Oakfield have identified that some children need to further their learning skills in more advanced ways. We aim to help children develop these skills

We view each child individually and assess their learning capabilities.  We are able to offer individual support on a one to one basis with qualified staff. Through the construction of an IEP [Individual Educational Plan] we can map out the way forward for a child to enhance their learning skills through balanced and creative activities that will improve a child’s concentration and support their development.

Our learning programs are not based purely on academic work instead they are structured to aid a child to ask questions, think critically, and discover the world around them.  Our teachers can offer a series of activities which develop and encourage movement skills, thinking skills and social skills in children in the Early Years.
