Must-Have Books For Your Little One

 In Education, Fun

As a parent, you want to give your child an enriching childhood, filled with fun, fantasy, and good stories. The best part about good stories is that they stick with you for years to come – giving that to your child is the best gift to impart!

However, picking good stories can be overwhelming: what book should you make your child read? What would be too “wordy” for them to handle? Which one will they like, and which one will they run away from?

You don’t have to worry about such questions anymore, because we’ve got your back. Here are some types of books your child would positively enjoy:

Fun Board Books

These are ideal for older babies; they might not be the most capable of reading full texts, but they do enjoy high contrast pictures, rhyming words, simple phrases and glossy surfaces. Plus, board books are hard, lightweight and have rounded edges. This is optimal for children who have a habit of biting and throwing around books.

Touch-&-Feel Books

These are perhaps the most fun books you could give your child. They include pages with different textures – patches of cotton, woollen fluff, sand paper, and more. It provides your toddler with various sensory experiences, making the reading task a lot more fun and exciting.

Activity Books

Just like touch-and-feel books, they give your child an interactive reading experience. They make them participate through various short and exciting activities, like pop-up pictures, hide-and-seek, lift-the-flap and more. It encourages exploration and curiosity.

Bedtime Books

While all the above mentioned books are exciting, children need some stories with which they can wind down. Bedtime stories have long, smooth-flowing narration, along with immersive pictures that take children to another world. Apart from lulling them into sleep, it also helps them enjoy some quality family time with Mom and Dad!

Children get to experience the most out of different books in nurseries in Dubai Marina, which have a great assortment of stories to choose from. Oakfield Early Learning Centre, however, stands out for two reasons. With a purpose-built Library, Oakfield creates an environment that strongly encourages reading on an everyday basis. Oakfield also has a well-entrenched reading programme, commencing with children in FS1 and carried forward to the FS2 year for the child, that prepares all children to read at a very good level for their ages, before they join school in Year 1.

Books are a blessing, and are a great means to introduce children to creativity and imagination. Help them open those doors through a good selection of books – and your little one will thank you forever.
